    IE and Firefox difference

im just wondering why at school it used to be that when i used my portable firefox, i was able to access any website bypassing the filter whereas it blocked the same websites on IE.
Curently revising for my CCNA chapter 4 test and finding this stuff about port numbers a bit interesting, does it have anything to do with that?

Don't access porn at school. Its probably just content filtering of some kind - they obviously haven't done it very well, if firefox can still load blocked content!

its probably becuase your portable FF is not going via their proxy as this is set via GPO in IE. They should really forward all traffic through it.

Yeah, pretty obviously a non-transparent proxy doing the heavy lifting

no porn. at school. go it
it was fun though whilst it lasted and when the admin installed a new filter it was so strict it even blocked the front page of wikipedia.
also it didnt matter which firefox was used portable or full version, the filter was still bypassed and i think someone managed to do so with netscape as well
