Is the wireless set to N only?

I guess the laptops are B or G wireless so you will need to enable that in the router.

Change the router, the 834N is junk.
TBH, Anything higher than an 834Gt is seemingly junk now too. Netgear have gone downhill IMO.

    I'd like an 834N

They aren't that bad for me.

    Re: Netgear dg834n

i have an 834N and it works perfectly.
bloody good range on the thing aswell

make sure your firmware is the newest one, make sure you're in range with the router
and if it still doesn't work, go in the settings and check everything to do with the wireless being on is enabled.

    Re: Netgear dg834n

Check "Wireless Settings/Wireless Station Access List/"

If Access Control is On have you added the wireless devices Mac address?

Disable it to connect a client and then adding their Mac to the list, before switching it back on is easiest.

Enabled the wireless access point and ticked broadcast name?

Checked that the laptops can connect using no security?
