Whats the best homeplug network over power cables?

    Hi
I am just looking for a recommendation for some home plug network adapters, so I can use the mains cable as a network. I would like 200mbs.
I have just returned some Linksys adapters as these broke after 2 weeks. I cant seem to find any recent reviews on the web either and all the current products seem to have been around several years.

Well I know you mentioned that you returned some Linksys adapters but...

I bought these from scan... Linksys PLK200-UK 200Mbps Wall Sock £45.99 (they come as a pair for only £45.99)

And my download/upload and ping are all amazing... identicle to having direct wired connection.

I get 5-25 ping in loads of CS:S servers...

No complaints. I'm thoroughly impressed by these.

They are the same ones I had from Scan. Mine worked great for a couple of weeks, then they just stopped one night. To be honest I may just have been unlucky and would have tried another set but Scan have discontinued them. I also had a quick look around on the web and found a few other people had the same problem.

I have been using a pair of DYNAMODE plugs for over 8 months with no issues.

Re: Whats the best homeplug network over power cables?

Only problem i've had is i can hear my Homeplugs through my PC speakers so they make a constant whine and data noise like the old telephone dialup modems when they used to dial out and connect.

Unless it's common for homeplugs to do it I'm unsure if it is the Comtrend 200mbs plugs or my Logitech speakers that have a filter problem but apart from that they have been working for over a year without any issues or drop outs even when DIY is being done in the house with hammer drills and sanders they still work

That's odd, I haven't experienced this with my set up. I stream regularly from the NAS in the study to the HTPC in the reception via Zyxel 200 homeplugs and have never experienced any audible feedback. The HTPC outputs to a 5.1 amp while the study has a 2.1 Logitech system.

Are your Homplugs plugged next to the plug for your speakers as it something i need to fix either by replacing the homeplugs or the speakers.

In the study, the closest speakers (cheap Dell monitor mounted ones) to the Homeplug are probably 30-45cm away in a direct line. In the reception it's probably 20-30cm tops. The Homeplugs in each instance use their own wall socket, but they are paired to sockets that run the rest of the equipment via extension leads.

Re: Whats the best homeplug network over power cables?

I can't hear the noise through my laptop speakers only through my Logitech speakers on the main PC but i do have the mains plug for the speakers plugged into the same gangway next to the homeplug as i don't have enough wall sockets to sperate them.
