    Vodafone USB dongle

Got a friend who is thinking of ditching his home broadband in favour of a Vodafone USB dongle.... my brother has a T-Mobile one, and to be frank it's rubbish, very slow and often drops the connection.

Does anyone have any experience of the Vodafone ones and can give me any feedback?

    Thanks for any help.

Get a free usb dongle from 3 and get in unlocked. Pop in an iphone 02 sim card and you get free wireless for a year! Speeds are around 1 Mbs though

    Re: Vodafone USB dongle

I had a 3 Dongle. It was rubbish. If you went outside a 3g area it wouldn't let you connect over GPRS. I ditched it and got a Vodafone dongle. Much better and connects over GPRS when no 3G/HSDPA available.

    Re: Vodafone USB dongle

It largly depends on area. Vodafone and 02 now share a percentage of there masts now so the services between to 2 are very similar. i have a Vodafone pc-card and it reasonably fast in this area. ask try it out in the store most will have demos. and run a speed test on it. in most towns and cities you should be able to pull around 1.5Mbps.

    Re: Vodafone USB dongle

Hi, I have a vodafone dongle.
Itsa very very good in 3g regions.
In some locations 3g isnt available but GPRS does do the job when ur moving around etc.
The only time it drops for me is when im on the train going past a random countryside.

fezfezed idea sounds good. Three always had crap covergae for phone when I was with them.

Have a try im sure they have a returns period.

Oh but you only get 3gb limit btw! Per Month!!

    Re: Vodafone USB dongle

Another vote for Vodafones USB modem - excellent in 3G areas, drop to GPRS and its like being back on dial up - but 3G coverage is improving. Self installs too (the app is stored in the dongle) and you can add a micro SD card to it for simultaneous use as a storage device.
