    Question 802.11n Draft 2.0 - dual band?

Are all 802.11n Draft 2.0 routers dual band (2.4GHz/5GHz)?

More specifically, it's about time I upgraded my current Draytek Vigor 2600G (especially with the exchange about to be upgraded past 8Mbps - which the 2600 won't support) and am fond of Draytek gear so top of the list is their 2820n... but is it dual-band? I can't, to my shame, seem to find anything that supports the notion that it is a dual-band beastie.

    Re: 802.11n Draft 2.0 - dual band?

The 5GHz portion of the spec is optional, so no, not all Draft 2 or final routers will be dual band.

I think dual band equipment will probably specifically say this as it will be a major feature for quite some time. At least until 5GHz radios increase in popularity and drop in price anyway.

    Re: 802.11n Draft 2.0 - dual band?

Bandsaw I have the Vigor 2820Vn - its not dual band and only has one gigabit port ( I've ordered an 8 port gigabit switch)

For true dual band look at this one:

    http://www.linksysbycisco.com/ANZ/en/products/WRT610N

I'm very happy with the Vigor but only use wireless occasionally. However, in reveiws, the 2820 performed very well in wireless tests through walls etc. I can try and dig out the review if you need it. The Draytek replaced a two year old Netgear DG834GT that was dropping connections and generally becoming unreliable.

    Cheers kmac.

I'd prefer dual-band but I am seriously impressed by Draytek gear - my 2800G has provided sterling service but it's time for an upgrade - so might well get a 2820n after all. Gigabit ports aren't really an issue as only machine will be connected by wire.
