Do you have a Dremel/hacksaw?
Do you have a Dremel/hacksaw?
I've a cheapy Dremel, aye. What exactly were you after?
Just the back panel provided the steel isn't too thick to cut through, I have a feeling it will be though...
As in the part that screws to the back of the case?
Yeah, it will be far cheaper to post just a sheet of metal rather than a heavy, large PSU. How much would you want for it if you can chop it out?
Meh, don't sweat it. I've just had a test chop and the steel is cuttable, but I make no promises about how tidy the job will be (ie you'll no doubt want to sand off a rough edge or 2 before you install it)
Drop me a PM with your details, I'll try to get it chopped tonight and posted tomorrow.
One failed FSP PSU does not a bad product make! There will always be an example that has failed - and I suspect that would be true of most of the major akes (just as there will be examples of failed hard drives - irrespective of manufacture. It's when there are a large number that the alarm bells ting.
Watercoled - that is similar to the first one I bought (although I didn't get it from that supplier. However the second one did come from there - and is the 150W version (powering a mini itx board, two 3.5 inch drives, a SCSI card and tape drive and a DVD device. It's the one I'm having a snagette with in the other thread - but apart from that little snagette, it is powering OK.
If I do get one made up - I'll probably get several - if the unit cost is OK - my target cost would be around a fiver. If I do, I'll drop you a PM.

I wasn't suggesting that it did, merely that if some use can be made by cutting it up (which was fun, not had the Dremel out in a long time) then Watercooled should speak now or forever hold his peace

You have pm.
@peterb: A fiver sounds good, no doubt I'll need more in future so like you said drop me a PM if you order some.

Here's one for you, Samsung have released an 'updated' version of the 1.5TB F2 HD154UI, the F3 HD513WI which appears to be inferior in every way. A post on SPCR forums says it seems to have 4 platters rather than 3 of the F2, maybe a way to sell 2TB drives with a bad platter?
Mine are UIs!

Lian Li PQ008 (think thats the model) takes 6 HDDs plus Optical
Zotac H55 ITX mobo with 6 SATA or another ITX plus controller
< 300W 80+ PSU (much larger is a waste of energy/efficiency rating)
6 x 2Tb HDDs
UnRAID software (allowing RAID features and individual HDD spindown for saving power)
Job Done.. IMHO

This is what I went for:
Lian-Li PC-Q07B which is similar to the 08 but it houses less drives by default, no problem though as I can fit 1 or 2 in the 5.25" bay and no doubt fit more inside the case with brackets from the 5.25" bay for example as I'm not using a regular PSU which frees up loads of room but ATM my storage needs aren't that great. Also it has no fans so the only moving part will be the HDD.
Intel D510MO Motherboard, comes with 2 SATA ports but I could use a SATA PCI card in future should I need to upgrade.
90w FSP PicoPSU style PSU.
ATM just 1 HDD.
2GB of RAM purchased from weegie.geek in the wanted forum.
ATX PSU blanking plate kindly provided by Splash.
Last two entries saved me a lot of trouble, thanks!!

Ended up going for the 2TB F3 drive, was on Today Only for £90. Is there anything I should know about the drive, i.e anything like WD Greens where they were load/unloading the heads every few seconds eventually going over the specified max cycles?
