    Recommend me a VOIP Router

I'm moving house next week & ISPs. I've been on O2 LLU for a few yrs but all that I can have at the new address is "access". I'm gong with vivaciti's LLU package & am looking for a voip router, wireless would be handy for use with my HTC Desire but that's about it. Don't have a particular budget in mind. Thinking about Draytek or Fritx!box. The only thing is my house is a fair distance from the exchange & have been told to expect speeds between 3-7 meg. So something that can be tweaked & stable

Draytek used to be able to supply custom firmware for their kit if you were miles from the exchange - not sure if this is the case with the 2820's
Certainly the 2820 Vn would cover your VOIP and wireless requirements

If that's too pricey then look at the 2700 series - same sorta kit, just with less VPN capability.

I use the O2 supplied Thompson 587 and attached a Linksys SPA3102 (I think you can get it for less than £40 on fleabay). Use JustVoip as my voip provider and it has been rock solid for over a year. I went this route cause Draytek is a bit expensive, very good though.

I am thinking of replacing my Thompson with a Draytek 2820n or 2920n and keep my Linksys SPA3102.

    Hope this helps...

Re: Recommend me a VOIP Router

I'm not sure you specifically need a VoIP router. A VoIP router just has te analogue telephone ports and the AD converters built in, but if you use a VoIP phone (or a softphone like X-lite) you can use VoIP over a standard router. Your HTC will contain the CODECs etc, so you should just need a wireless router to connect to.

I don't use a cellphone for connectivity, but I have a cordless (DECT) phone with both VoIP and PSTN connectivity. The VoIP just connects to a standard router and goes via a VoIP service provider (Sipgate in my case). The phone has multriple handsets and can handle a VoIP and a PSTN call simultaneously (one per handset)
