    wireless keeps getting hacked

i keep changing the name of the wireless router and passwords but they still manage to get in as soon as the ps3 is setup for wireless.

i have the ssid hidden now as well so how the hell are they getting my routers name and password to use my wifi.

i have changed the routers name again and it has stopped them for now but if i go setup the ps3 there back.

do i need to setup the security on the ps3 to stop them getting in?

    "they"?

What form of encryption are you using? If it's WEP, then that's likely why.

Set up MAC address filtering on the router.

Easy to Spoof, but it all helps.

You really need to make sure you're using a minimum of WPA (ideally WPA2) with a 'random' non-dictionary password.

    Re: wireless keeps getting hacked

when you say's it's being "hacked", what exactly is happening? Is your router showing non-authorised machines connected to your network, or are you just getting sucky performance?

that's what i thought at first but the wireless activity light is still flashing when the ps3 has no power so its not that using it and its the only thing wireless using my router.

Ive tried resetting my passwords again and router name and within 10 Min's of getting the ps3 online there using it again as the wireless light is still flashing and the ps3 is turned of with no power.

how are they getting my router name and password from the ps3 as if i don't set it up for using the wireless i have no problems with wireless activity or use.

been getting this for 4 days now had no problems before with the ps3 and wireless so some sod is doing it

is there anything i can use to trace where they are as id like to download my fist in to there face

    Re: wireless keeps getting hacked

WEP is virtually useless, WPA1/TKIP is also vulnerable, but takes more work to break. Use WPA2/AES to correctly protect yourself and your network.

    Re: wireless keeps getting hacked

Just because they are showing on your list, doesn't mean they have authenticated on your network.

Most routers will show people trying to obtain an IP on their devices list, even if not validated.

Are you 100% sure they actually have a full connection to your router? What are they showing up as?

from what i can see its 00:1d:0d:89:53:78 no host name in the dhcp client list.

Ive changed the passwords to WPA2/AES and entered new ones even longer now so ill give that a go and see if that keeps the out.

That MAC is a Sony device. Likely a PS3. Likely yours.

If you follow the instructions at http://www.technipages.com/ps3-find-mac-address.html is that the same MAC?

Once it's authenticated it will still show in the stations list for some time, even if switched off.

block that MAC then, don't think the iPhone can change it's MAC easily.
