    lose internet connection when I remove any USB device from my computer

    Why do i lose internet connection when i remove any usb device from my computer?
    when i remove usb device from my computer (either safely or not) i lose connection the internet. my wireless adapter icon/ windows icon changes to no internet access exactly 10 seconds after removal and defaults to a virtual private network?

    I'm using windows 7 ultimate x64
    Netgear WN111v2 wireless adapter with latest drivers.
    latest intel inf drivers from gigabyte for X58A-UD5 rev 2.0 MB

    I know you said you've got the latest drivers but that's still where I'd be looking, firstly to the motherboard drivers.

    It's for this sort of reason that I'm not a fan of USB for networking.

    Also check BIOS settings for USB are correct, I had a MoBo running in legacy mode for USB (I assume it meant 1.1?) and I had all sorts of weirdness.

    Its always possible that removing the USB device causes a bus reset, for some reason.

    Possibly a driver issue or might be a physical issue, and you pulling out the other devices cause a power surge or short circuit which then causes the problem.

    Are the USB devices all in the root ports, or are you using them on hubs?

    Not using a hub.
    Happens on all USB memory sticks.
    I have turned off and on again the legacy in the BIOS.
