How can I remotely connect to a vista home prem pc from a win 7 pc on same network

I mainly run windows 7 home prem. I also have vista home prem on another pc in the house. I want to be able to connect to this PC from my windows 7 PC, to allow me to control it.

What is the easiest way I can do this? I would ideally like a free solution, and I've heard windows remote connection may be able to do this (are there other good free programs that do this as well?)/

As I also have limited networking knowledge, I would also like some guidance on how to set this up.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

If it is simply accessing a PC on the same LAN then I'd go for one of the many VNC variants - RealVNC, UltraVNC or TightVNC.

If you are looking for access outwith your LAN then try logmein, gotomyPC (might be pay for) or teamviewer.

Teamviewer is excellent. The "MSN" like list for your computers tied to an account is invaluable. It's also great not having to arse about with port forwarding or other stuff like other remote desktop programs.

Re: How can I remotely connect to a vista home prem pc from a win 7 pc on same networ

UltraVNC has been the most successful method for me. I can access any system from any other, including PDAs and phones, though I don't have much reason for the latter.
Have a look at Microsoft's Live MESH. I used it when the beta worked with XP and its remote features were very good. XP isn't supported now so I haven't tried the latest version.
... I use now a big vent for the whole machine now, but I cant use it forever, it is my grandma's ventilator...
