Please help with ADSL wireless dilemma

I've just got broadband for the house, but the wireless router can't reach the room above the garage where I'm living. Because it's 30 feet away and through two walls. As a result the house is still on dial-up, and the garage is on broadband. Most specifically have got to get it to reach my mom's computer desk/shrine. It is very precious and disrupting my mom's computer habits causes holes in the space-time continuum involving plague and storms.
The signal almost reaches her computer desk, it is still several feet away from a stable signal. What can I use as a relay in the house, what is the most cost-effective solution, short of moving the garage or my mom's computer shrine area?

this may sound too easy but.....why not move the router and run a bit more cable? should be easier than a relay

If you can't move your router and if it supports an external aerial then get one of those and site it closer to where you want it to be.

    cheers,

cat5 easy answer :/ just move things about until it works ? simple
er, if your northbridge fan is humming loudly, disconnect it. _dont_ kick the side of the case, it _will_ break it.
    i know :/

I am kind of tempted by these options, that options like moving the router would mean laying a couple of metres of power cable across the kitchen surface, and I really want the router in my room, because between the house and garage it would in thin air and inside the house and there is chances that the wifi would be slower than broadband connection that it is on, its 11MB per second. I would have gotten faster but this was quite a good deal. And all my cards are 11MB. cat5 cable and similar options would mean getting a GI Joe suit on and the lamplight and crawling around 30 feet of a fibreglass and planks tunnel that is 1 foot high and goes all around the roof of my mom's room, which is where access would be wanted, and in this with carpal tunnel syndrome. Moving things around involves equally complicated things. The only option is plugging in some kind of relay amplifier anywhere that could fit a ac adapter somewhere in the house. With some thought I think this is the only main option, what should I get? a hub ? thanks!
