    managed router?

Can anyone recommend a managed router? I'm after one that will let me do a couple of things that the virgin default router won't do:

    1) manage traffic such that I can limit the bandwidth my flatmate is hogging streaming movies, and so stop him from taking up the flat's entire connection

    2) block a list of urls. (Virgin router only allows 10 sites.)

    3) set up some content filters on to block certain stuff to different machines if possible. eg using key words, etc rather than just urls.

I found this: http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/vigor2830.html but apparently it doesn't do IPv6 - is that important to have?

IPv6 isn't really used at the moment but may be in the future. Have a quick look at pfSense. It's not really a router but it allowes you to build your own router. I have used it for years on a atom based setup with a CF card.

So is pfSense a software solution that needs to be loaded onto a server machine? While I could resurrect the old p4 i'd be concerned running the net through the router, to a machine to the rest of the machines in the house would slow everything down. Plus if I'm not in couldn't my flatmate still just plug into the router and bypass any rules on the pfSense server? Presumably I'd also need to get a second wireless router to run the wireless off the proxy server machine?

I was rather hoping to get an all-in-one router solution if possible so he can't dodge it.
