    PCI problems in Shuttle Zen

My Shuttle Zen has a Trust V92 56k modem card but I cannot get it to work and with technical expertise, all possible faults have been eliminated down to the PCI. Has anyone had any similar problems with this?

Firstly - check to see if the modem is physically working.

What O/S are you using? I'll assume WinXP for now. Go into "Control Pannel" > "Phone and Modem Options" click on the "Modems" tab your modem should be listed there. If it is not then the drivers have not been installed. If it is then select it and click on the "Properties" button.

Now it should say "This device is working properly." in the device status window. Now click on the "Diagnostics" tab and click on "Query modem" button. After a few seconds a load of gobbletygook should come up in the "Command Response" section. If this happens, then your modem seems to be working properly. If you get an error saying "The modem failed to respond" then it looks as if your modem is not working.

Easiest way to tell if its the Shuttle or the Trust modem is to take the modem out of the shuttle and plug it into another PC.

Try that and let us know.

    modem resolved

Thanks for the replies. The modem I was using worked in another machine and the driver was installed. We tried downloading a newer BIOS and chipset and just at the point when we decided it must be a faulty PCI, our Network Manager replaced the modem with an older version and end of problem. No idea why one worked in the shuttle and the other didn't although it was perfectly happy in a pc. But thanks anyway - much appreciated.
