I see Manchester are on that list but they already have FTC in a lot of places so why do they need more money to invest?
Why not invest the money in other areas with super slow connections? If this carries on the divide is going to become massive.

That's all the cash that Edinburgh is allowed - after the fiasco with spending many hundreds of millions of £££ on a tram set that is still not completed many years down the line they can only be allowed £100. And that's to share too.....

How about some love for the Scottish highlands?.... Inverness needs some love.

Too Right
I wouldn't be surprised if the article is correct. The bunch of amateurs who run Edinburgh council should not be allowed to run a budget higher than that. 1 billion pound wasted on a tram system is a scandalous waste and the Scottish government are doing nothing about it until after its completed. i.e. by that time anybody involved will have left the council or not in office. Never get my vote for a devolved Scotland.
Having worked for Local Gov for a while before taking the plunge into the private sector (glad I did) the amount of wasted money was insane. Who sets up these contracts?
We had a fella who brought a Satellite install for €120000 for a site from a company in Italy. We don't normally deal with anything but UK companies and later the company goes out of business and he move's to Italy. Being in the public sector benefits some people.
The UK is still horribly behind the majority of high-tech nations bearing high bandwidth connections. I suspect it's been primarily a profit driven reason behind limitation, but is there any other reason why?
I don't know about people 'not' needing something that isn't readily available in the first place, but speed issues have been on a lot of people's minds in the UK - we do experience throttling for instance, when peak time shows heavy internet use.
Can you clarify what you mean by backend?
