D-LINK ADSL Router and Airport Extreme Problems..

    Lo folks,

Just installed an Airport Extreme Card and bought a D-LINK DSL-G604T router to go with it.
I have installed the card, i have hitched the router up, the card works OK in the laptop (G4 iBook) and it finds the router.
The problem is, i try to view a page and i get zip, nada, nothing!
I get all the right signs, It says i am connected to the internet via the afore mentioed router, i get the correct speeds, blah blah, but thats as far as it goes.
As you can probably tell, i am no expert with networking, OR MACS! So could someone give me a hand?
I assume i need to configure it using PPoA etc?

    Any tips?

    regards,

    Dan/

Try setting the IP/Gateway/DNS addresses manually, rather than through DHCP. Im no mac expert but ive done a two mac to win networks before and sometimes the mac's didnt accept the DHCP lease. If that dosent work, come back and ill think of something else

I use a D-Link Access Point with my Powerbook.
    works fine, always has done.

So obviously I don't have the ADSL part of it, but the wifi side works fine.

    Cr4iG,

I can catergorically state that the Airport system is OK, it's not a problem, i've tried to connect the Router to a HP Laptop, it didn't work there either, sooooo it has to be how the Router is configured with ADSL... If that makes sense, but at the same time, it reports an uptime of 1h 20mins and it is reporting 526KBps etc. so it's connected to the line etc. :S

    Any ideas?

Can you suggest what settings i should be using...

    In "Network" IP = 192.168.1.2
    Router is set to 192.168.1.1

but as i have said, it's not just a Mac issue, as the PC won't connect either...

Hmmm, just make sure you have the Gateway set to 192.168.1.1 (which should be a router ip address) other than that, set the router to factory defaults and start again

Can you view the router setup page from the Mac? If so there's nothing wrong there, it must be something to do with your ADSL config.

YEP! 192.168.1.1 etc. etc. brings up the set up page, as i said before, that gave me the indication that the actual setup is not at fault, it's the ADSL part....

Is your internet connection actually live??
Can you ping any Ip addresses internally and externally.
I have the same router check the logs in >STATUS>SYSTEM LOG
In the routers config there is a ping option in >TOOLS>PING TEST try using this to ping an external ip address (yahoo.com - 216.109.124.72) this should establish if your actually connected to the net.
Try turning off all wireless security and see if that has an affect.
Check your dsl username and password

    Reet,

I've pinged the IP and as i expected, "Network Not Reachable"...
My old Router was a doddle to set up with the Mac, so i don't know what's going on! The ADSL line is ok, as i have reconnected the old router back up for the time being...
What are the settings i should be checking?? PPPoA etc? a quick overview would be most helpful as the D-Link manual isn't very useful..

    Cheers

    Dan.
