what wireless kit to get, router and pci card ?

    Hi,

have read through a lot of threads and everyone seems to like soo many different brands and was wondering now what is best to get for my telewest blueyonder broadband..

need to get a router and 2 pci wireless cards probably and can probably opt for the 802.11b slower type as its normally a bit cheaper...

I was going to go for dlink but heard ppl having problems with them...

what about belkin as its got a lifetime warrenty ?

so what should i go for, or avoid at all cost ?

    thanks !

i have a DLink G604T wireless router, and i cant fault that, absolutely top notch. good range, and excellent features. £65 from ebuyer.

on the other hand i also bought a DLink G520 Wireless PCI Card, and although it works, slows the machine down to a crawl (it seems to stutter, for 3-4 seconds, then move for a second, then stop for 3-4 again and so on...). I've tried it on XP Pro and 98SE and both the same. Even the new DLink drivers failed to stop this, so it's currently being RMA'd.
    I'd avoid if you can!

Another vote for Linksys; reliable, and easy to setup. I use their 54g products a lot and they're excellent. Had quite a few problems with D-Link, though.

I'm currently using Netgear wireless router at home. Working pretty fine, although I know a lot of people using D-Link but they're having some trouble with it because it's a bit unstable. But for some it works just fine. Now I don't have a laptop but my father has and he thinks our router is working just fine, and he has a Airport wireless card in his laptop. . Good Luck.

I'd say neither - go HERE and get it - they've got over 400 in stock, and they have the router HERE.

Yes, but they ARE reliable, and they DO have stock (I use them myself, now and again for work and home).
