Today after waking up I found I had no internet (BT Infinity) the middle light on the hub was flashing orange at the time I did not check the modem part. (two part system)

After tweets to BTcare and a phone call to customer services the only help they offered was a phone call after I get back from holiday next week.

Having a look over the two boxes I saw the power light on the modem was coming on for a couple of seconds then going off. Hmm I thought, after a quick test with the multimeter was showing it the voltage was at 12v but testing it under load on my test bench showed the voltage dropped to 6v

The spec for the transformer is 12v 0.7A

A quick fish through my pile I replaced it with a 12v 1A from a old Belkin router, making sure the polarity of the tip was the same and hay ho internet is back.

So before you spend that cash on a new router, try the power supply.

Also testing my speed with a good power supply I found my upload speed has more then doubled,
