    does such a router exist?

    hi

i'm looking for an adsl modem router with support for the new ac wifi standard and gigabit network ports, i also want the router to have an onboard vdsl modem for when my area gets bt infinity

i've looked around the internet, can't seem to find such a thing - any ideas anyone?

so in summary the router needs
    adsl and vdsl modem
    gigabit ethernet
    wifi ac standard

    thanks all

looks like it is the bt home hub 5, the others don't have wireless AC standard, question is, whats the underlying hardware / manufacturer of that homehub?

Yes, that's why it's called the BT home hub. Presumed you were interested in BT as you wanted something for BT infinity

Re: does such a router exist?

Other people sell FTTC services, I get mine through Eclipse.

Is there a reason why you want the functionality in a single box?

The VDSL modem needs to be near the phone master socket, in my house that is an awful place to have a WiFi access point. I use Homeplug AV 500 powerline adapters to get broadband to where it is really needed but hard to wire, and upstairs I have a proper WiFi access point.

You are assuming that the single device will take less power than multiple devices, which may or may not be true, but if you have all that functionality, that will be powered whether it is used or not, may not give you significant power savings. Space saving is a consideration though.

You may find the BT home hubs are custom made by Huwai. BT do provide Huwai VDSL/FTTC modems (which are actually routers configured as a bridge) when they are provisioning FTTC on behalf of third party suppliers.
