Same here, and that is comparing a 3 antenna access point not some generic router that is trying to be everything.
As for drilling holes for Cat 6, I once drilled holes for Cat 5 and it was a pain in the butt. I supposed I could pull the carpet and floorboards up after moving the furniture out of the way and lay cable under the floor, or I can plug in a homeplug adapter and not lose several weekends to a job that in a few years I will need to do again to pull the cat 5e (6 isn't worth the aggro) and replace with fibre for 10GbE.
I think it very much depends on the house, but homeplug for me is the best option.
Depends on the signal quality I guess.
I have used them for other people, for example my cousin's wireless signal doesn't reach to his room so they are a godsend for those type of situations.
I had some 200Mbps ones and it turned out I only got around 45mbps over the LAN, which wasn't fast enough for my liking so they went back in the box.
When powerline adapters work they are great, but unfortunately I don't think my internal wiring is up to scratch as there were always too many random network drops (and it wasn't just confined to one brand/model - though the one in the OP wasn't one of those used), so I gave up and went the messy route of trailing an Ethernet cable directly to the router instead.
