    what router do you have and what is the uptime ?

    Hey Everyone,

    I was wondering the following about router/modem people have:
    1. uptime
    2. make and model
    3. why did you get it?
    4 how are you finding it? aka is it reliable etc

    I currently have a Zyxel SBG3300 and my current uptime is 87 days.
    I got it because I wanted something That was a business grade router since I run a teamspeak server for myself and friends when playing games and also because it has vdsl modem so i do not have to use a seperate modem for plusnet fibre.
    the uptime used to be around 30 days before i updated the firmware ad wireless was off when it restarted itself.

    Re: what router do you have and what is the uptime ?

    Draytek Vigor 2920n

    Bought after great experience with a 2620, which was bought to handle multiple public IP addresses.

    Very reliable, and although I had to reboot it recently following a configuration change, the uptime was in excess of 200 days. Another Draytek device I look after had an uptime of well over a year (as did the server it was connected to) and only rebooted after a power cut.

    So bought for its reliability and facilities, and although some of the advanced config can be a bit tricky to set up, it is a great router.

    Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH

    I have Gargoyle firmware installed on it, it lets me monitor, set quotas and throttle bandwidth per device. It manages very well under heavy load and has been 100% reliable since I bought it over three years ago.

    I originally bought it because my housemates would clog up the internet connection with malware riddled machines and incessant downloading and torrenting, after installing Gargoyle I became the house's Internet god. Thou shall not cannot torrent when Dave is playing TF2.

    So far its uptime is 301 days, last reset for a UPS upgrade.

    Modem = Draytek 2820 Bridge Mode
    Firewall = ASA 5505
    UTM = Sophos UTM
    Router = 2 x 1841 using HSRP.

    I have these because I'm nuts.

    need to reconfigure my draytek, stopped working with shub in modem mode a while back, havent gotten around to it.

    current router, shub, uptime probably around 20 hours, rebooted it last night.

    I tend to reboot once a week or so as a rule, not strictly necessary but it makes me feel better

    Re: what router do you have and what is the uptime ?

    It's a Jetway JBC370F33W running pfsense. I had to upgrade from my Draytek 2820N as the WAN on my Virgin connection started to swamp it and it kept rebooting.

    Cost a packet at the time, but until I need to upgrade to a WAN connection greater than gigabit I should be fine.

    Current uptime shows as 17 Days 23 Hours 06 Minutes 01 Seconds, reminding me that we had a power cut a few weeks ago.

    Huawei E5172

    Current uptime 3 days but that is because we alternate 2 sim cards. Other than changing sims we haven't had to reboot it in the 6 months we have had it.

    It was bought because we had to go to 3G (4G now) because fixed line broadband wouldn't go above 400kbs

    Re: what router do you have and what is the uptime ?

    At work we have a Draytek and it has always been very reliable. It is the 2800 series and I cannot find the uptime. the wireless was a bit flaky about a month ago but but it seemed to of sorted itself out.
    I have just applied the new firmware for my zyxel. UI seems more responsive now. hopefully this firmware will be as reliable as the last one.
    I am tempted to get a low spec machine to install sophos utm on since it is free for home use.

    Cisco 1840.

    Uptime is measured in 'time from last powercut'. Which I have no idea when it was.

    It did crash every 2-3 weeks, but a few tweaks to the NAT timeouts and it's been fine ever since.

    Re: what router do you have and what is the uptime ?

    I've been using BT 2wire for years...I pick spare ones up at boot sales for £1 or £2 each as people don't want them as they are slightly tricky to set up (how to do it is on the net), but the original one is still going with 3 computers wired and two on wi-fi (erm does the tv count as another one)...recently the power supply failed but of course I had a spare.
    Not sure what you mean by uptime but don't think my IP (better not name them) is very reliable as I lose connection every week sometimes just for a few seconds and sometimes longer and don't think it's the modem as in one outrage swapped the modem over and still couldn't connect.

    BT 2 wire what is that?
    Uptime is the time since it was last reset or lost connection.

    Nearly all routers log system uptime. It's just a case of going to 192.168.0.1 (maybe 192.168.1.1) logging in and doing a bit of digging, it's normally under system properties, details or the sorts.

    Mine turned out to be http://192.168.1.254 and I don't have "monitor internet connection" selected and before it works it's asking me to activate Java platform SE 7 U.........h'mmm

    Re: what router do you have and what is the uptime ?

    1. Due to a power cut yesterday, less than 24hours, but never noticed it rebooting or anything
    2. ASUS RT-N66U (Merlin firmware)
    3. Recommended on a few forums
    4. Works fine, does the PPPoE for the Openreach Fibre modem, provides 2.4GHz and 5Ghz Wifi, lets me create additional wifi access points for each range, cant say ive had any issue with it in the 6 months ive had it.
