Server Rental

I suppose this is the right place. OK, do you know of any decent companies that rent "virtual" servers out? I don't wanna build a server and have someone physically host it, I want to "rent" a server from them.

I'm thinking maybe it could be a game server, or used for TS and maybe be able to run a few web pages off it too, if that's possible.

Does anyone know what I mean? Know if it's possible? Cheers.

have a look at www.1and1.co.uk - I think they do cheap dedicated server hosting.

Thanks, I had a look, but there seems to be a lot of cheaper, and better services from elsewhere. I had hosting with 1and1 a while back, they screwed me around a bit and I didn't like there service, so I got my money back and went elsewhere.

fast UK hosted servers, good tech support if you even need it and cheap I was running our CSS clans Teamspeak2 server from mine for ages, and prior to that it was used to host a few websites and other stuff

Myself and the company I work for have VPS accounts with PowerVPS.com, I cant rate them highly enough! Their support ticket system is fantastic, the longest I have had to wait for a reply is 35 mins! Also you get a shedload of bandwidth and space for the same price as the ones from aceshells! Also, you get free cPanel/Plesk/Directadmin if you wish to do webhosting aswell!

Head over to webhostingtalk.com and ask about them, i dont think anyone will have a bad word to say about them

OK, have decided it won't be run for a game server, just TS and probably a website or two. So, I'm thinking, what would a server ran in the USA be like for TS if the majority of people are here in the UK? Would it be OK with that?

And cheers for the recommendations, I've got a better idea of what I want now. AceShells look good coz of their servers being in Redbus, but for a few quid extra you can get so much more from these USA companies...

a us server is such a bad idea mate latency issues will cause huge problems with a TS server, min ping to a US server is something like 100ms...bandwidth may be cheaper but you get what you pay for

go for a uk company, you wont regret it

Well, I decided to go with AceShells as their servers are located in Redbus and I know they are better than Telehouse...

£15 (inc) gets me 3GB disk space, more than enough IMO, and 15GB bandwidth. Extra bandwidth is available at £1.50 per GB, but I really doubt I'll be using that much.

Actually, you would be surprised

On that VPS i have, i host ~20 channels for CS:S Clans, and at prime time the server copes fine, the delay is no more than a UK server! Also, i avarage ~400kb/s from my server, which i aint going to grumble about
