Laser ethernet link to another property

    Just a quick question.

A friend in Spain is thinking of buying an old farm house for renovation. The only issue is the broadband speed. He has been looking at the possibility of the spacex Starlink when it's available, but there are no gaurantees that this will be possible.

The farm house is 2km from a small property that he owns that has 1gbps symetrical connection. This one bedroom flat is on the top floor in a valley and has direct line of sight to the farmhouse that is on a hill overlooking the town and the flat in the valley below.

He came to me for advice, but this is beyoned my limited networking knowledge, so my question is.

Are there any products out there that will allow a laser ethernet link between the 2 properties? Legalities are someting that also needs to be looked into, but for now I just need to know if it is at all possible to link both properties on the same internet connection. I also looked at long distance wifi but didn't think this would be viable.

    Does anyone have any advice?

    Thanks in advance.

What is the local 4G coverage like ? I've seen good results with a directional 4G antenna
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

In the town the 4g seems pretty respectable, I assume the property has line of sight to the local mast as it's on a hill. But the problem with a home 4g connection is that they seem to be limited to 40 -50gb per month here in spain.

Although thats not tiny, it's probably not going to cut it.

If he decides to buy, then it's probably going to be 2 years until he's needing the connection, hopefully that will give time to see what's happening with spaceX.

I was also looking at directional wifi, but it seems a bit hit and miss. ADSL2+ is quoted at 12-14mbps, although unlimited it's a bit slow these days.

Some form of microwave link is your best bet.
