    RJ45 Ethernet Patch Cables

So am trying to tidy up the hodge podge of cables i have and would like to know if you have any recomendation for flexible patch cables.

I tend to use cable monkey and have a small selection of Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a and the problem is the same with all of them, they are more like structured cables and not patch cables so no flexibility in order for me to fit them in the instalation.

    Sugestions ?

    UTP not STP?
Adds a bit on the price front but I always go STP.

Got a mixture of both from Cable Monkey - going to try a few from dcdi and see how they are.

We tend to get Videk cables from CCS Media, prices fluctuate a bit, but ~90p for 0.5m STP and ~1:10 for 1m

    Re: RJ45 Ethernet Patch Cables

I was hesitant with DCDI originally, as I didn't know them before I saw someone else recommend them in a Reddit thread, but as it turns out are very good. I've had two batches of patch cables separated by several months, and both were very the same nice outer sheaths. It's the smooth style which bends very easily - they don't scrunch up or kink etc.

If you found one of this style of cable in a big box full of the sh#tty typical cables from Amazon, then it's the style where you think "ooh, this feels like a really nice cable, I wonder which product this came with and why does it feel so nice & easier to work wit hcompared to the other rubbish ones?"

Presumably it's the LSZH aspect which is the reason behind it, but I'm not a plastics composition or chemistry expert

It's like the feeling you get when you encounter a really sturdy well-made cardboard box and think "why aren't they all made like this?"

They used Parcel Force for at least one of my deliveries, maybe both, if that matters to you.

My one and only bit of negative feedback is that I encountered one cat6e cable which had a single RJ45 pin which wasn't fully recessed, which caused an intermittent connection only when the cable was jiggled slightly. Obviously this was easily fixed with a crimp. This would've been awkward to fully test for during QC checks, and I don't hold it against them at all.

    Re: RJ45 Ethernet Patch Cables

So just a mini review if you could call it that

CAT5e UTP - super flexible, no problem with the quailty so far and a loads of colours; bonus

CAT6 UTP - slightly stiffer then the CAT5e but still very useable for patch cables in the home

CAT6 STP - even stiffer to the point i would say this is not meant for patch cords, this marrys up with the other STP ones i've had recently / in my stash

CAT6A STP - on par with the above, not really usable for a patch cord that might need to move; this is more static installation; would not recomend

I think going forward i will cycle out what i can and go with the CAT6 UTP based cables.

    Re: RJ45 Ethernet Patch Cables

Not to be a shill for a company (and i don't recall how i found them) but have a look at

    https://patchsavesolutions.com/773-s...s-patch-cables

I got a few of the slim line CAT6 in and so far am rather happy with them, do wish they had the 30cm/60cm options but for the 1.5m - 5m normal patch i use these seem decent enough for now.
