    So the Asus actually arrived on Tuesday, and I'm seeing a marked improvement. I can now even get wifi out to the car, which is handy when I want to set up destinations in Google Maps, as phone signal round here is terrible.
    One other issue I was seeing with the Virgin modem was it just stopped handing out IP addresses on the wired network, so things that should have been wired were on wifi, plugged all those back in and everything's hunky dory. It even tells me that the telly only has a 10mb port on it, which seems a bit strange, it's only 3 years old. Just trying to find another cable to see if that's the issue...
