burnt out NIC?

what are the signs of a NIC ??


me thinks i've got one...

NIC properties shows connection,sending packets but none receiving, cannot ping,al lthe IP stuff is correct ......

Also ,the conenction light isnt working either.....but while i was at work... i left my pc on and at 3PM today receieved the below System error

"The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer USER-0HGW1Z78F4 that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{228CD994-C5F. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced."

what does this mean ???

The error is todo with how a low level layer works in 801.3, i won't get into the technicalities of this.

But the problem might well be to do with a dodgy patch cable, that error message would make sense.

i've made my own network interface before with functioning TCP/IP stack.... in only 2k (including security maps too!)

glad to see i can still remeber it
