    Arrow Can't connect to irc

    Just got an internet connection sorted at uni, and was merrily IRCing away, when I got randomly G-Lined :| Now when I try to connect I get:

    * Connecting to uk.quakenet.org (6668)
    -
    -uk.quakenet.org- *** Looking up your hostname
    -
    -uk.quakenet.org- *** Checking Ident
    -
    -uk.quakenet.org- *** Couldn't look up your hostname
    -
    * Disconnected

    Any ideas? I thought it might be the uni not allowing IRC use, but I was on for a good hour before I got kicked!
    Help!

    Looks like a firewall stopping it to me.

    Can't see why, it worked for long enough, and I know other people in halls who have it working :|

    Yup...

    I *think* that I had that problem with NAT as well (so it might also be a possibility).

    You don't have the XP firewall on do you?

    Sibu if you have to use a http proxy to access the internet you could use a program like Socks2http which allows any program that supports a socks5 proxy to be tunneled through the http proxy! I used this all of last year for irc / ftp / kazaa and it works fine!
