    ruby on rails

I've got to setup an internal server for a new app at work.

It is a completely new thing to me, and after reading the official site I don't really understand it anymore than I first did

Whats the best platform to run it on? Any nice step-by-step install guides?

never heard of it either !

    had a quick look.....
    from their website

Rails works with a wealth of web servers and databases. For web server, we recommend Apache or lighttpd running either FastCGI or SCGI. For database, you can use MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, or Firebird. Just about any operating system will do, but we recommend a 'nix-based one for deployment.
if you are happy to deploy a linux box then go for it - otherwise you can get the above to work on a Windows enronment with a bit of tweaking.

    "aptitude install rails libapache-mod-ruby"

then read any readmes in /usr/share/doc/rails/ and /usr/share/doc/libapache-mod-ruby

or, if you're on Windows, since everything is so staggeringly easy and simple, you don't need any complex instructions like the above
