    Wireless Router

    Hi!

    I am currently sharing my broadband through an Ad-Hoc network (two Gigabyte 802.11g PCI Cards) and I'm fed up of having to turn on the main machine to get internet on the second machine. As such I'm looking for a cheap but decent wireless router, and by the sounds of things I'll need one with an inbuilt modem. I use my main machine for gaming so i'll need to be able to use an ethernet cable to connect it to the router so I don't get too much lag. My ISP is Wanadoo and i'm my current set-up is: Telephone Line -> RJ-11 cable -> Allied Data CopperJet ADSL modem (provided by Freeserve/Wanadoo) -> Main Machine (Spec as sig) -> Gigabyte Wireless PCi card -> Second machine at other end of house (reason for wireless).

    Edit: Preferably available from Scan and £70 max!

    Thanks!

    if you want to be able to tinker with loads of settings then the Zyxel 660HW (with free 125Mbps pcmcia card) for £70.49 is ideal - and there's free shipping at Misco if you order before 10th Feb and pay with Paypal.

    http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~104106~/ZYXEL%20PRESTIGE%20660HW%20125MBPS%20WIRELESS%204%20X%2010%2F100%20ADSL%20ROUTER%20BUNDLE%20WITH%20P CMCIA%20CARD.htm#

    can't seem to get the affiliate URL to work correctly, help!!!!

    Strangely they charge £75.00 for just the modem/router without the free pcmcia card ....

    I personally recommend the following router ;

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=278499

    I've had this since my D-link die a certain death and even though the D-Links been replaced and sent back I'm still using the asus router as its very stable, the wireless has yet to die after 54 days of operation and the range on the signal has been better and stronger for some reason

    Also, the modem is ADSL and ADSL2+ compliant so your going to be able to use this in the future when ISP's move over to ADSL2+ later this year or early next year.

    Or you could go for the WRT54GS from PCworld, 49.99 with a USB adaptor. Excellent bit of kit, and excellent aftermarket firmware allows you to set up things like QoS and SIP (for voice over ip phone services)
