    Cable Router Problem

Hi my friend has a problem with his new Netgear WGT624 Wireless router.

He has it connected to the PCs enthernet port via one of the 4 ports (not the mian internet connection port) His modem is plugged into the routers main internet connection port.

He can connect wirelessly to the router however when he trys to access the internet on the cabled PC or indeed the router configuration page (Http://192.168.0.1) it just says page cannot be found (IE).

He has tried restarting the PC numerous times and resetting the the router however the problem is still there.

    Anyone got an ideas?

    Thanks

Try setting a static IP address on the computer he is using to access the router - something like 192.168.0.3 to connect via the wired port. What modem is he using?

erm... I think the config page on my Linksys router is http://192.168.1.1 also is the activity LED on where his ethernet cable is plugged in? Has he disabled his network port in his BIOS?

Yup, depending on the router it will have a different IP address - my old one had 192.168.0.1, my new one 192.168.2.1, and linksys use 192.168.1.1 - though it should be printed on the bottom of the device or in the literature that came with it.

turn everything off, turn on modem, wait till it gets settled, turn on router, wait till it gets settled, turn on pc - make sure it's set for dhcp.

maybe the router wont allow two connections from the same PC (wireless and wired) at the same time. Maybe remote admin is disabled. Try using a different browser incase IE is trying to log in with an incorrect password. Make sure there's no proxy settings in IE
