    Talking Which ISP for Me?

    Hey Guys,
Could you tell any ISPs which provides the best speed/price ratio under £25, and which is uncapped. I know I'm asking for a lot, but I would presume there are a number of 1mb or 2mb services which fulfill those criteria?

Any suggestions as to which ISP might offer such a package would be appreciated.

Although that site is helpful to an extent, it doesn't really answer my question.

Could anyway suggest any ISPs, either from personal experience or just from their knowledge of the topic? I'm looking for pretty exact things, and that site seems to be more generalised in the way it allows you to compare many ISPs.

I am also looking at changing my ISP, because the only way to get a speed increase from my old ISP (zen) would be to accept a strict usage cap.

However I have decided not to switch at the moment, because there is a price war on at the moment with new offers coming out every week, and if I signed a new 12 month contract now, I would not be able to take advantage of any better deals that will probably come out over the next couple of months.

Instead I have decided to stick with my current provider for 3 months or so.

Having said that, several of my colleges have recommended Plusnet, and the new plans annouced by BT today look quite attactive.

Nildram are probably the way to go but you have a cap at peak times - think its 30 gig. Ace internet were pretty good for 8mg at £30 a month but have now introduced various caps and FUP's after week of saying there were no plans to. For £25 id avoid max services to be honest, from reading adslguide its still a bit dodgy im not convinced the current hardware in exchanges etc can cope with the amount of data being downloaded etc, hence the introudction of these "stupid" caps and FUP's its like giving someone the keys to a Porsche and telling them to drive at 5mph. Pipex are stil about i pay 23.44 a month for a rock steady service that with a bit of tinkering i can max out but the CS these days is dire so i wouldnt choose now as a time to join

I use PlusNet and I would recommend them for Customer Service, Gaming, Value and Speed.
    Thanks,

Using Tiscali 1 Mb Unlimited and its £15 per month. However they don't do 1 Mb anymore so you get 2 Mb Unlimited for the same price provided that your telephone exchange supports it. Mine hasn't been updated yet hence why my connection is 1 Mb.

Another vote for Nildram. I've had one of my lines with them for a few years now. As others have said, there is a cap of 50GB per month but only in peak hours (8.00am to midnight). If I have lots of downloads to do I queue them up and schedule them to start with a download manager like Reget Deluxe. It works well for me as those downloads are not metered. To be honest, I struggle to get anwhere near 50GB per month anyway.

If you don't use up your peaktime 50GB allowance with Nildram then spare GB's are carried over into the next month (although there is a limit to this I believe).

In 3 years I cannot remember having any downtime with Nildram. The cost is £25.99 per month.

My other line is with Plusnet and they are great value at £14.99 per month for the cheapest package. You get 50p per month off for EVERY referral as well. However, the £14.99 package is not good for filesharing type downloads as those are throttled down to 10KB/s! They do have other more expensive packages that don't have these restrictions but I have found that Plusnet have had quite a few technical problems and I tend to suffer a period of no connection around once every two months with them.

Well, i was in the same position as you when i was looking for Broadband. In the end i went with NTL and i am glad i did. Very happy with it too. If you can get cable then go with NTL. No download limits and all for a great price.
