I have a 2960 switch, which I have configured for separate VLANs. However, I now need to connect them between each other and therefore need layer 3 routing.
Either I ditch the 2960 and get a 3560 which offers L3, but it's pricey at around £1800.
I would have thought that a L3 plug-in standalone router would be cheaper, although I really need it to have gigabit capability and would connect it to the two gigabit uplink ports I have on the 2960.
I won't bother with ISL, just use standard 802.1q vlan tagging as that's the only one I know how to configure. On the plus side, I don't think the router would HAVE to be a Cisco one as it's industry standard.
Any models spring to mind?
Cheers
