Depends on who you are wanting to speak to i guess. It's like IM services, if all your friends are using MSN there isn't a lot of point using AIM. Likewise if you know people in the US that use Skype, then you may as well use skype as well as opposed to getting them to install another client. Also i don't think GoogleTalk lets you call land lines. or am i mistaken?

I have been using Skype, for a looooong time now.. and it's Great!! Highly recommended and never had any problems with it. They also regularly give away FREE Skype out minutes (in the last 2/3 weeks they have given out 1 Hour of calling credit at their standard rate and 10 minutes free).

The sound quality is indeed great with no problems talking to people from around the world.

The IM side of it is also very useful if you are wanting to catch someone who is currently on the phone or can't speak for whatever reasons. The file transfer speed is also amazingly fast as it isn't capped.

Can't really comment on GoogleTalk as I have stuck with Skype.

Everytime they have had the offer on free Skype out minutes (I missed one of them, doh!) they last for that day and they have always sent me an email about it (which you set up within your Skype profile).. So I guess if you have no email address specified in your profile then you wouldn't receive an email.. but otherwise that's weird if you haven't received any of the emails but yet have specified your email address.
