MaxADSL not maxing

I use to have a 1 Mbit account with Zen broadband who have been very good. I had very good connections and no problems whatsoever. In a fit of moving with the times, I upgraded from this account to their new MaxADSL pro account which gives me 'upto 8MBit' and 50 Gb download a month.

Having been on this for over a week now and there is no way I am even getting close to 1 MBit at times. Its starting to annoy me now as it can get painfully slow.

Can anyone recommend a new ISP which has the old fashioned 1/2 MBit connections (50:1 contention and all that - unlimited download/uploads) etc.

MaxDSL takes longer than that usually to settle down, around 10 working days. There are plenty of guides around, many recommend restarting your modem for 3 consecutive days to help establish the fastest sync rate, although this can restart your 10 day count.
