Network diagnostic tools for business

Hey, What a manic hour we've had, Internet went down... Aaaaarrrghh panic lol. Except it was only down for *some* machines using internet explorer would bring up the "page cannot be displayed" and msn wouldnt sign in but we could ping and tracert google.com from cmd. We've got it back up and running ok now but I don't think we've got any proper network diagnostic tools and stuff which might have helped (and we're still having problems with email but thats unrelated). We're running Novell Netware 6 and Groupwise for email, and just wondered what people here use for their businesses etc.
