    Rangemax and linksys router bridging

I want my setup to be like this.....

8mb ADSL --> Rangemax ADSL Model Router --> Linksys WRT54GL

I want to use the linksys router as the wireless access point.... Link from netgear to linksys is via cable.

    How can i do this?
and so i can access the both router pages from the same computer.

    Thanks.

Out of interest why do this? Surely the Rangemax has wireless built in?

Essentially you need to ensure that both routers have seperate ip addresses - that should sort it, but be warned that double NAT is a painful thing

The wireless on the rangemax is utter rubbish..... so i bought a linksys, which is alot better.

Fair enough. You running NAT on both devices? What I would do would be give the rangemax an ip of say 192.168.0.1 and the Linksys 192.168.1.1

Those are the present default ip's of both routers.

    It works okish

I have a cable from lan port of netgear to wan port on linksys... works ok.
But i want to make it so im basically just using the rangemax as a modem...
so i think i need to bridge it?

Yes you need to bridge them. I believe that these low cost devices don't usually support bridging - NetGear do have some Bridge options, but only on devices that they specifically identify, and interoperability between manufacturers is not likely at the moment.

I hope I am wrong, but I don't think you can do this.... but I would love to know how if you can!

Sorry - not a lot of help here really!
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

I'm surprised - I thought the Rangemax was particularly good and offfered far better range than standard 54g. I've only setup a couple but have been impressed so far. I used to always recommend Linksys but now recommend Netgear's Rangemax to people.

Does anyone else have any opinions on Netgear vs Linksys ???

Interesting, although I would like to hear other opinions from Hexus users. I've been a fan of Linksys for some years and have only recently thought of moving away as Netgear have been launching what seem to be better products. However, there's no doubt that Netgear's stuff is a lot more visually appealing than the functional but drab looking Linksys.
