us proxy server to get a @gmail

i realise that uk based ip addreeses are blocked from getting an @gmail.com addy and have to put up with @googlemail.

anyone know a way I can make it think im in the us (tried proxies none of them allow http_post so useless)

once you have the @gmail address can access from the uk.

iirc you can send email to a googlemail user @gmail.com and it will still come through. I could be wrong though

I've just tried sending to me @gmail, not googlemail.com. It's sitting in my googlemail inbox.

Yep all usernames work on both domains

Yeh but it would still be better to have @gmail in case they need to stop the @gmails going to @googlemail for some reason. I wanted to do this ages ago but had the same problem with the proxies and no american friends

Well AFAIK it's all part of the same username database etc., I'm not sure if they even differentiate between @gmail and @googlemail accounts at all after sign up
