    harware firewall

Ive got a mate that has already got an ADSL modem/switch and WAP but now wants to add a basic hardware firewall into the equation.

Rather than buying one with the adsl modem/switch/wireless built in he'd rather buy a standalone one as he's already got these bits.

    Any suggestions?

    Please dont say ipcop!

you could use smoothwall or clerkconnect in ethernet "mode"

What about the symantec firewalls ?

they aint all that cheap though ( no hardware firewall is )

http://www.d-link.co.uk/343.htm I've used this myself, it does do Stateful Packet Inspection and logging and costs £81.07 inc VAT http://www.dabs.com/uk/shopbybrand/d...quicklinx=2D1X Easy to set up, the only problem I had was with VPN-passthrough, which I suspect was due to the VPN client software I was using, tbh.

Im actually rethinking the IPcop route as it comes pretty much setup already. The only problem is the size of the box.....
