    Linksys WRT54GL help

I bought the Linksys WRT54GL router and i am trying to set up a wired network with two pc's connected to the router. Im just having a problem knowing what addresses etc to set it up.

Im with ntl if that makes any difference. Im using a router atm with 2 pc's connected and i have tried to use the same info with my new one, but doesn't seem to work.

If someone could just show me screenshots of their router settings maybe it would help me understand.

    Hope you can help.

    Thanks

Edit: I cant connect to the net with just one pc atm

I find it less troublesome to set static IPs for each machine. Try disabling DHCP in your router and use windows to set IPs.

    eg
    PC1

    ip 192.168.1.105
    dns 192.168.1.1

    PC2
    ip 192.168.1.106
    dns 192.168.1.1

Is that what you were after?

i have had no problems with DCHP myself.

i know that, i had problems as i am on ADSL, and had to also use a modem, unfortunatly the modem and router by default use the same IP range, which caused alot of problems

but as you are on cable, you dont need a modem with it, right?

edit: you say you can only connect to the net with just one PC, is your dchp ip range bigger than 1? sounds like a silly question i know but its possible to forget to put a 0 after 10 or something

Im currently using a modified HyperWRT + thibor 1.5c firmware for my WRT54GL router.

Only problem I had was my NF4 DFI board in my server had a MAC Address on the NIC as 00.00.00.00.00 and the router threw a wobbly. Manually set the MAC address and its been working fine ever since.

Just use DHCP for your machines (ie Obtain an IP address automatically - in your TCP/IP settings for your network card), only use manual addressing as a last resort (or if your doing something exotic).
