Serious Problem

I have just got a laptop and we bought a Wirless modem router for the main cmputers' broadband, but we have never used one before and we have no idea how to get everything working - so could someone please expalin how to get the wirelss connected to the main computer because we have tries a couple of things and nothing is working properly (e.g the broadband on the main comp won't connect once we plug in the new modem).

ok mate we need some more information about your hardware to be able to help you on this one.

because you said you have bought a modem/router am i right to assume you have ADSL broadband (via the telephone). If you've bought the wrong type (DSL) it wont work

also, do you intend for the laptop and the computer to be wireless or are you going to hardwire the main computer in?

have you changed the settings on the router? if its ADSL then you'll need to enter your ISP's username and password into the router so it knows where its connecting to
