    no wireless from 3 feet?

as you may know i have got a new dell laptop (lattitude c400) which is quite old now but works fine. all day i have been on the net in work on it wirelessly as i bought a intel wireless pci card for it.

now i get home, my flat is wireless, the router is 3 feet away and nothing doesnt find it. although it finds 3 other networks from around and about?

any ideas router is a netgear. and is fine wirelessly with my flatmate upstairs.. but i cant see it at all here.

its not very good as i dont want to have a cat5 going into it all the time. i know someone on here knows alot more than me so lets see

    thank you

Which channel is it on? if its 12 or 13, your laptop may have US regional settings (the US gets channels 1-11, we get 1-13) and so it wouldn't see any working on channels 12 or 13 due to legal issues.

you need to go into bios to set the power save options for the screen brightness, im not sure of your model but a lot of dell laptops use F2 to get into bios, and ALT + P to advance through the bios pages.
