So, if your Missus uses these, what are her views on these?
Do they ruin your hair ?

My Mrs does on a daily basis, hasn't ruined her hair.
If you're looking for gift ideas for your other half learn from my mistake, "I'm sure they're just as good as GHDs" isn't something that should ever be said!

Straight hair is more important than any damage is my experience of what women think.
My missus uses them on a regular basis, no damage if you set the temperature correctly for the hair type.
I bought her a pair of Remington Pearl professional after reading reviews and she loves them.
Or you could treat her to a Brazilian Keratin hair treatment at a salon, which would probably cost more then a set of hair straighteners.
There are some that are as good as GHDs, but they cost pretty much the same. Can't remember the brand, but my sister has one. Expensive ones are worth the money; they take half the time to do the job.
The BaByliss Pro 235 Elegance set *IS* as good as the GHD ones and notably cheaper.
Both my wife and my wallet support this statement!!
Mine swears by GHDs too. She uses spray stuff to protect her hair and has been using them for years without going bald. Yet...
I have trusty Nicky Clarkes. Wide plate jobbys so they straighten me wild mop. I also use the squirty hair heat protection stuff. I also slather on the conditoner, and trusty argan oil with each wash.
My hair hasn't fallen off yet
Looked at GHD's but cannot justify the price, and according to everyone I know who has had them they don't last long..
Bought GHD Mark IV
Case closed!
Just make sure she turns them off and unplugs them when not in use, and make sure she has a heatproof mat or similar for letting them cool down on. Nothing like rushing home half way through the morning to turn them off before bad things happen!
