tips for new parents. what to buy/know/do/avoid

Our attempts at reusable nappies have failed so far (we think he's too small at the moment) and are sticking with aldi disposables until he's put on more weight. It takes a few flushes to get them down but they seem to go eventually. (sorry @Tasky I couldn't resist - we're obviously not flushing them. )

Aldi ones are very good for the price, Mamia brand, I think?
Same for the wet wipes (don't flush those, either).

Do revisit the reusable nappies though, and look at different brands. We calculated that we'd saved over £3,000 by using them.

There are lots of benefits to using reusable nappies both cost and environmental. We tried them twice and never could get to grips with them though friends swore by them.

Though nappy technology has probably come a long way since I last used them. Back in the day you would steer well clear of own brand nappies, you just knew they would leak at the first opportunity. A bit like the old own brand food. Asda basic burgers that used to inflate under the grill.

Thankfully things have moved forward a bit more now!

Two kids, from newborn to potty, yes.
It's mostly just technique in getting them on with a secure fit. Takes a dumb dad about 5 goes to get it spot on.
