New power supply for PC world Packard bell PC

Hi all, my housemates power supply blew on his computer. The computer is originally from PC world but is out of warranty, he has a low budget - less than £30 for a new power supply. Would this be ok? http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=138556

although the FSP one is cheaper the Tagan has a 3 year warranty, i'm not sure about the enermax but it has a 3 year warranty also, other suggestions are more than welcome. I'd rather he get a good brand power supply. Also does anyone know if Packard Bell computers take a standard sized power supply?

The last question is the one I'd worry about first... Do you have a model name/number? Are there any details on the existing PSU?

Ah he went to a lecture, i'll find out when he gets back, all i know about the specs are that it is a P4, Integrated graphics, Single hard disk and the usual other bits. I have a suspicion it may not be a standard power supply :/

Depends; sometimes PB save money by just buying bog standard parts in mahoosive quantities, so this may well be your standard PCChips (or equivalent) mobo. If that's the case, then the PSU'll probably be standard too.

Assuming for now it's a standard PSU, which of the above or any other would be the best value for money?

I've never used an FSP, but my Tagan's not given me any grief; mind you, nor did the 550W Enermax I was using at work until recently. I'd tend to go for the Tagan. Powerful enough, and quiet.

It's an FSP250-60Gen that's in there at the moment, i think the tagan looks like the best bet, it's what i have in mine too. Does anyone else have any other suggestions before i buy the the Tagan?

Enermax are very reliable, and Tegan are alright too. It doesn't really matter, to be honest, I'm guessing he just wants a working computer again.

The Silverpower according to the reviews is able to actually supply 400w reliably so that is why I recommended it!!
