    MSI K7N2-DeltaL & TwinMOS 512Mb PC3200@400FSB

Has anyone got these specific RAM sticks (either singly or in dual channel) to run in this board @400 FSB? They are the generic sticks rather than the branded Twister versions. I need some comfort that it is worthwhle investing in a better PSU to overcome the most likely cause of inabilty to run them @400. They run fine@333, even with more agressive timings (Cas 2, 3, 3, 5) than the 2.5. 3, 3, 6 recommended, but won't get through Memtest 86 at 400 FSB with any timings I've tried and believe me I've tried many. I'm on the latest bios.

Memory modules are marked MTec 03390 TTD/608F 8E500

    The sticks themselves are labeled:
    P/N: M2Q9J16A-JAMK9F081 AADT
    Model: M2G9 J16A-MK

Can't find out anything further about MTec or the specific P/N or Model.

Overclockers UK stock the TwinMOS sticks (or something similar), but their link to detailed specification at TwinMOS is no longer available (least this may be what the Korean says). I bought them at a LCS along with motherboard, who have said they will test my setup to see if it's the memory or PSU that is preventing the system run at specification. If it's the memory, then I'm faced with sourcing something else (that will definitely work) and getting a refund on the TwinMOS stuff. If LCS are unwilling to source on my behalf, then Overclockers UK look favourite.

BTW I recall something about Overclockers UK going into receivership/administration so have not tried them for componenets in last 3+ months. What is the current situation, or am I mistaken?

    Season's Greetings

Hi i have the exact same setup, and have currently got it running at 360fsb with 1:1 not tried any higher, at first when i was confident i tried to jump straight in at 400 but machine wouldn't boot, i think thsi might have had something to do with me not being sure how to lock the pci and agp on the board, how did you manage to get to 400fsb.

    Atif

    p.s i have a sonata with a 380watt antec!!

p.p.s, my sticks are twinmoss on twinmoss.

Had already tried those timings and it gets further into Memtest 86 than most other combinations, but still fails.

Highest dram volts available is 2.7 that I've also tried.

I think I may be right on this but Over at TPR I know a few people who have bought the board you mention and used twinmos that is known good and it doesn't work well at all. On purcahisng other ram the boards work well and the twinmos flys in other boards. So it seems to be a compatability thing strangely. Don't know if it's the cause fo your problem but could be.

my bad, 360 ddr, actual fsb is 180, also tried tightning the mem timings today no joy wouldn't boot, was 8 7 7 3, tried 7 5 5 2.5, xp wouldn't boot, maybe a little to abmitious with my timings, will try some slacker ones and build up, that was at default vlotage.

Edit:Although having said that you probaly found the original subject of this thread extremely funny as well.!!

Maybe my terminology wasn't so far of, or i'm getting the wrong end of the stick and your laughing that it's not 333 or 400 for the timings, if thats the case then i can assure you the speed is 180fsb as reported by bios and 360fsb(ddr) as reported by nvidia system utility.

Seems these sticks come in at least 3 different flavours of memory modules:
    TwinMOS
    MTec (what I have)
    Hynex

See what is available at a wholesale supplier in UK (use guest account option).

I suppose it's very possible that while one type may be compatible with a certain Mobo, another may not.

twinmoss also come in my flavour, winbond

btw 200 = 400fsb due to double data rate (mem)

so if you hit 200fsb you get 400fsb, if u want it you can lower the multiplier and whack the fsb straight to 200(400)fsb ( if your cpus unlocked )

Yes, I thought there was a Winbond version also as was refered to in the NVidia memory compatibility table.
