    New PC case

I am getting a new pc built for me and I already know the components I have asked for he is going to get. However, he said that I should get the case and so I looked to find a case for this new pc. I was looking at the antec ninehundred case but in reviews I read that fitting in an 8800 GTX was quite hard. I am getting one of these cards in my pc and I want to be able to upgrade to sli in the future. This is why I had to look at the TT Armor and the Coolermaster Stacker 830. I was wondering if there are any other cases that I could fit two 8800 GTXs in the future in that are cheaper than these?

I would just say in the future it might be better upgrading to a better card rather than a second 8800, and sell your old one on eBay. My 2p.

    Akasa Eclipse 62 - £80

Will fit two 8800GTX's in no worries, one of the best performing cases when it comes to cooling as well.

Has enough width to fit even the biggest coolers in, bit of a pain to fit watercooling in mind, unless you dont mind mounting the rad externally.

I have an akasa eclipse 62 and an 8800 GTS (just a little bit shorter than a GTX)

thats the inside of it with the GTS.

There's tonnes of room inside and it looks kool too. The akasa mirage is the same case with a different front if you prefer a more fussy design.

You will need to buy your own 120mm fans for it but that way you can specify how much air you want going in and out (how loud or effective you want them to be)

EDIT: beat me to it u bugga lol

Everyone should know by now, if someone asks for a case I am going to be there to suggest the Eclipse.

Looks good though, got the same cooler and fans as me, I find the Ambers a bit whiney though so I have them set at 7V (using an Akasa fan controller... can you say fan boi )

Thanks for the help. While you were talking about the fans it reminded me about my choice of cpu cooler. I'm not going for liquid cooled and i said i wanted a thermaltake big typhoon to cool the cpu but I am unsure. btw still open to more case suggestions.

The big Typhoon is one of the best performing coolers but you obviously pay a premium. Theres the Thermalright Ultra 120 that peforms very well. But a lot of people including myself have gone for the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro. It costs around £12 and it really is up with the best of them. Clocked as mine is with that 8800 sitting not too far away it games at around 48 degrees on the hot days we've been having.

What voltage do you have running through it? What load temps do you get on normal days. What temps under orthos for a couple of hours with the side of the case on?

    Can you do a screenie?

    voltage is 1.38.

I did do orthos for around 6 hours but stupidly didn't take a screen shot of the temps at the time.

Orthos CPU stress it got to 52 and 54 after a few hours (always with the side of the case on as it has its on fan which helps)

the blend test it peaked at around 50 again. It's never been above 59 since i've had it and that was at 3.6GHz 1.41 vcore under orthos blend.

Idles at 38 on one and 37 in noraml heat..recent heat has had it idle at 40 and 42.

Silverstone offer good cases in their Temjin range, though at a lot of money, either the TJ-07 or TJ09 should easily cope with a pair of 8800GTX's

Then again, I'm getting the Lian Li PC-A05, enough length to handle the graphics cards, and with blower fitted it can cope with the heat as well. On the plus side it's really short, only 381mm high

I read the link and it says that the antec 900 does fit two 8800 GTXs so I think I still may go for that. However, if it is a tight fit what kind of problems will there be?

Cramped Case can = Hot case.

Arctic Freezer 7 Pro with 1.33V running through a Core 2 at 3Ghz runs at 50 all day every day...

My case is a whisper as I leave it on 24/7 and its next to the womans head (about 2-3 feet at most)

I think you will be able to get away with a freezer 7 Pro or maybe a Ninja. Will easily fit in the case.
