SN45G Graphics Card Advice for non gamer

Hi all, after some advice from those who already have Shuttle systems.

As I have a spare AMD 2500+ and can take a Harddisk and 512MB of PC2700 RAM out of another PC. I am planning to put together a Shuttle PC as a second PC. I think I have decided on a SN45G but I don't know what type of graphics card to put in it.

Was thinking of a SN41G2 but many posts about hassle with
generic RAM have put me off. I think a dedicate gfx card may be easier.

I am not a gamer. The box will mainly be used for surfing the web and as a multimedia PC. i.e Showing family photos and videos (AVI/MPG) through the TV (Svideo). I may also move my DVD player elsewhere and play DVDs through the PC. What sort of spec graphics card should I be looking for.

Normally run the monitor at 1280xsomething

Try and pick up a (not very ) used Ti4200.............they are to be had for £40-£50 and will handle anything you throw at them and for the money are outstanding.

Or a Radeon 9000 /9100 /9200 etc theyre all cheap and have the features you need.

I run a SN45G with 512 PC3200 RAM, XP2500 and a Ti4200.

It's a great system and quite quick too. I use it for games so for you it'll definatly handle anything you asked it to.

Well sounds like its going to be a multimedia box so I would try and find something that doesn't have a fan and has excellent tv out - I've read Ati are better for this as their overscan is supported without the need for 3rd party tweaking.

an 8500 or a 9000 is prolly the best bet then as there are passive versions

The TI4200 new (as I feel more comfortable buying) is a bit much pricewise. With regard to the ATI cards a bit of research lead me to

Which seems to be the sort of thing i was after.
