    Single-sided SDRAM problem?

I'm in the process of re-fitting an old machine which has an Abit BX6 v2 Slot one mobo and according to the motherboard's manual it can support a 256Mb stick o' SDRAM in each of the 4 slots. Quoting from the manual:

"The motherboard provides four 168-pin DIMM sites for memory expansion. The DIMM socket supports 1Mx64(8MB), 2Mx64(16MB), 4Mx64(32MB), 8Mx64(64MB), 16Mx64(128MB), and 32Mx64(256MB) or double sided DIMM modules. Minimum memory size is 8MB and maximum memory size is 1GB SDRAM.

There are four Memory module sockets on the system board.(Total eight banks) In order to create a memory array, certain rules must be followed. The following set of rules allows for optimum configurations.

    - The memory array is 64 or 72 bits wide. (Without parity or with parity)
    - Those modules can be populated in any order.
    - Support single and double density DIMMs."

However, upon testing using one single sided stick of 256Mb Crucial SDRAM, it only shows up as 128Mb. The BIOS on the mobo is the latest. Does anyone know if it has to be a doubled-sided stick only? From the above description it appears to be either / or...

Nope, ain't that - works fine on a newer mobo and have given it a good workout with MemTest x86-3...
