Is that something that will be resolved over time?

Possibly, but part of the problem stems from the DRM protection built into Vista. This protection mechanism polls various parts of the system on a regular basis (usually many times a second) which is obviously going to impact performance. Unless they remove some of these checks, which is unlikely, then I can't see how Vista will be able to match XP's speed (particularly when encoding).

Some of the big slowdown's experienced with Games are often caused by driver problems though.

i kinda figured i wud see loss in prformance on an XP game movin to vista BUT the actual amount of loss im seeing is rediculaus. From 250fps capped solid on XP to less than 100 on vista... thats not drivers that the game i reckon. I dunno though thats just assumptions
