    A Question on RAM...

Ive just bought a few things from ebuyer recently - XP 2500+, Asus Nforce2 Duluxe, and cheap ebuyer 3200 mem for the time being.

I was hoping to eventually get:

512 dual channel or 1024 dual channel in PC3500 memory.

Its rated at cas 2.5, butI was wondering what the likelyhood of getting this at a timing of cas 2 at 3500/3200.

Do you reckon these prices are decent (£140 for 1gig and £70 for 512), and is the brand decent enough?

Should I get 3500 mem or do I stick with 3200?

Should i get my RAM from elsewhere (would really want to buy it from a shop in london area)?

    Help me....... please

I would personally not go for kingmax. I would rather have something like twinmoss. Komplett are doing 256mb (2.5) pc3200 with winbond for £27. That is a bargin. http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?a...rpID=9&cks=PRL

1024 isnt really needed at the moment, 512 will be sufficent. It you arent going to upgrade for a long time then you may as well get 1024, as that will future proof the system a bit.

Either pc3200/pc3500 is fine for athlons, pc3500 isnt really needed, as all branded pc3200 will reach pc3500 speed.

Dont know what graphics you have/are getting. But if you want the best probably go for 512mb of pc3200 and overclock it a bit

Getting a leadtek ti4400 128 (with bga mem, not tsop).

Cool, but was wondering if the cas rating will be the same. Ive heard the system 'flies' when you do a 1:1 on the ram and cpu speeds, so if my barton only clocks at 400, I was wondering if i could get a definate cas2 out of 3500 ram at 3200.

BTW , ive an aerocool glacier thats been waitng for the barton. Assuming its an average chip, what fsb do you reckon id get?

i set up a system with this ram the other day and i'm not at all impressed(except for the purdy red pcb)on 2.93v it will run cas 2 up to about 210mhz fsb but you cant get tighter than 2,3,3,5 at any speed

TwinMOS is good RAM. You won't find much difference between 512MB adn 1024 tbh. Only if you're using software that sucks the life out of your memory

I got 1024MB of Twinmos - only the PC2700 tho, cos I got it a while ago. I need it for my games, and tbh - it's held up the slack in my video card for ages - quite admirably. Nice RAM.

What chips does it have on it? also timings?

There is only a 17mhz (fsb) difference, that isnt really a huge amount, for £10's more its not really worth it, as you can probably get near it?

Ive been recommended the twinmos, but I really want the hyperX 512 dual channel kit - its fast and part of the testing procedure is to see how it performs on the asus a7n8x series mobos (my soon to be mobo), But its an entire 3rd of my budget of £300!

Ive also been told my choice of q-tec 400w PSU is a very good one and been told to get a superflower as another cheap alternative: the psu units of superflower are made in the same factory as enermax!

Ok, now its between crucial and twinmos (2*256).

The komplett twinmos with winbond will costs about £60 inc del. They have kits, but dont say wether they have winbond chips.

Crucial, with the promo code, is £55 inc del. Will the CL3 make much a difference?

    Which one?
