We've got 7 standalone HP servers, already racked in a cooled cabinet... we're just relocating them into a 'new' partitioned space out of the way... we seem to be achieving a new server every year and we're quickly running out of space in their current location.

Not to mention at the minute theyre not secured/locked away/safe from dust/misfired staples etc...

Idea's so far have been great, and very helpful!

Many thanks folks... and keep them coming if you have any.

The room itself will be behind 3 locked doors, will have fire retardant walls and will be painted using dust preventatives...

So far on my list I have the following gadgets/essentials:

    Air Con
    Shelving & Storage
Cable Runs (will be ducting anyway)
    Colour Coded Cables
    UPS
    SMS/Email Notification
    Nice Lock (Bio?)
    Ethernet Webcam

Make sure you have more space than you'll ever think you need.
Also make sure that the air con ducts is not above or close to any of the racks.

One more thing on the UPS is probably to make sure than if you have servers with failover power supplies, that you plug one PSU into one UPS and the other PSU into a different UPS - this makes sure that if one UPS fails, the server should stay up

Yeah - two rack mount PDUs - HP make ones that slot in the side, each supplied by a different UPS. Mount them either side so cables don't have to run very far.
